Attention begins before explanation. A patch of light on a wall, a familiar voice, the work waiting on a table: ordinary things can receive more of us than we usually give them. We do not need to manufacture an extraordinary moment in order to be present.

Leave a little room

The biblical invitation to seek can be read as an invitation to remain attentive. Seeking is not always a search for something far away. Sometimes it is the patient work of noticing what haste has made invisible: a need, a possibility, a kindness already offered.

A small practice

Put one task aside for a minute. Name three things you can see without judging or improving them. Then ask what deserves your care today. There is no result to record and no perfect answer to reach. Return to your day with that question still open.
